Kevin L. Herzog, PCC
TAAO Member since 2008

Kevin is a born and raised native Houstonian.  Graduating from Jersey Village High School in 1995, he went on to achieve a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in General Business with a minor in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in 1999.

In June of 2007, he joined the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP.  In his 8 years as a Client Relations Manager in the Houston Office, he serviced the firm’s three largest jurisdictions Houston ISD, City of Houston, and Harris County.  Kevin’s innovative approach to office processes continually increased efficiencies with improved technology helping to provide superior customer service to all taxpayers and jurisdictions.  Kevin achieved his Registered Texas Collector (RTC) designation in two short years.  The first month he started with the firm, he became a member of and attended his first luncheon meeting of the Gulf Coast Chapter Texas Association of Assessing Officers (TAAO).  Having never worked in the tax profession, he gained much needed knowledge of the industry and found many mentors in the organization which have helped him in his career as well as advancing in the TAAO local chapter.

In 2012, he was sworn in as Trustee of the local chapter serving three years in that position before becoming Secretary in 2015.  In May of that same year, he moved into the public sector of the property tax industry, joining the Harris County Tax Office where he uses his vast analytical skills to improve and automate processes and procedures through the use of technology allowing the office to do more with less.  After moving to the tax office, he took additional required courses to complete his current designation of Professional County Collector (PCC).  In his time at the tax office, he has continued to move up through the remaining local chapter board positions serving as Treasurer, Vice President, President, Immediate Past President and finally Regional Director.

While on the local chapter board, Kevin concurrently served on several State TAAO committees such as Ballot Teller, Conference, Walter Stoneham Fun Run, and Fundraising.  Not only while serving on the local chapter, but also at the state level, Kevin continues looking for ways to innovate and improve the organization.  He currently serves as a bingo caller with Janet Jennings-Doyle at the Annual Conference and continues to serve on many other state committees.
