Welcome to TAAO

Paul Villarreal
2017-18 President

TAAO is a non-profit association that is a leader in property tax education and has been providing networking opportunities for tax professionals throughout the great state of Texas for more than 75 years.  The association is governed by an elected Executive Board of Directors and Regional Directors in addition to the entire state wide membership.

An annual conference is held each year in August.  This conference helps attendees to widen and expand their knowledge of the tax profession by attending multiple sessions on topics related to the tax profession business.  These conferences are widely attended by tax administrators, appraisers, tax collectors, attorneys and private companies engaged in the property tax field.  It is also an ideal time to exchange information with each other and compare “Best Practices” in handling issues in the day to day business world.

One of the number 1 goals of TAAO is to provide quality education to its members.  We offer a full range of state mandated courses plus additional workshops and seminars throughout the state of Texas.  These courses, workshops and seminars are taught by highly qualified instructors registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Members also receive a daily newsletter with property tax related news articles and notices of actions by state agencies.  During the legislative sessions members also receive updates on proposed legislation and newly adopted legislative laws.  This helps to keep them abreast of upcoming changes that will affect the way they do their jobs.  As you can see, active participation in TAAO provides a wealth of personal and professional benefits.
